Since the founding of the Junior Red Cross in 1917, youth and the Red Cross have been partners. Today, the involvement of young people with the Red Cross is more important than ever. The Red Cross currently engages more than 169,000 youth and young adults with meaningful opportunities for education, training, and volunteer/community service so that they remain a part of the Red Cross family throughout their lives. Get involved with the American Red Cross Youth services today and find out how you can help!
The American Red Cross offers a variety of safety promotion courses through discussions, video segments, skills sessions, and handbooks. Learn skills to help you become a great babysitter, get trained in swimming lessons and life guarding, become prepared to save a life with CPR/AED training, complete the Scout First Aid Merit Badge, and learn other first aid skills for wilderness preparedness and for dogs and cats. Be one of the thousands who are committing themselves to prevent, prepare, and respond to emergencies.

The Red Cross Leadership Development Camp (LDC) is a week long camp that provides many opportunities to the youth involved. It is an opportunity for youth grades 9-12 to develop leadership styles, skills and abilities. They will also receive information on the many services the Red Cross has to offer, and get the chance to become involved with the Red Cross back home. They will be given the chance to become a part of the Red Cross Youth Council, create a Red Cross Club in their school, and get involved in community service projects. The camp is designed to give youth the opportunity to express themselves as individuals in many activities and discussions. The camp is a great way make new friends and have a lot of fun.
Did you know that 27 percent of all American Red Cross volunteers are under the age of 24? The Red Cross offers many opportunities for youth to become involved. We encourage you to be trained and to volunteer your time to help us serve our community and the nation. Red Cross volunteerism is enriching and very much appreciated. We currently have 50 youth serving on our Youth Council, a group of youth ages 14-19 who gather together to change the world around them by doing service projects.
